The Brand IXIAH is not for the fashion conscious individual, but more the style savvy lady. The concept behind the brand is not based on trends but to create something beautiful. With African influences and a combination of masculine and feminine shapes, she creates something perfect for the woman she has in mind. She has a one of a kind design aesthetic and her trademark is “Neo-Tribal” for free spirited and stylish women.

Diesel Resort 2014

Keeping close to the monochrome trend, Diesel have really pushed forward a clean and crisp look for next year. The silhouettes are very androgynous, yet flattering to the female form. A combination of tailored garments and leather detail creates a tomboy chic image which is ideal for evening drinks, or Autumnal lunches. A utilitarian feel comes from the belts and pockets used on the jackets which creates a raw military look.  I think this is a very strong collection and the pieces are a must have…

Clutching Cannes.

 

With Cannes film festival kicking of last Wednesday, our dashboards have been filled with red carpet Glamour and Celebrity style. The British Designer Charlotte Olympia has channeled the Film world through her accessories this season, and has created a cute little clapboard clutch. We will undoubtedly be seeing this throughout the after parties in Cannes over the next week.

With summer only a few weeks away, it is vital that we are ready for the up and coming seasonal events, whether it be a cocktail party in the gardens, or a BBQ on the beaches. Lightweight fabrics, and bold splashes of colour are just what we need.

Patrizia Pepe has hit the nail on the head with this springs lookbook…

beautifully tailored trousers with belted waists and lose fit shirts create a real vintage appeal, which really fits in with the trends that we’ve seen on the runway.

the silhouette of the dresses and skirts complement the female form, giving a  relaxed look. The idea of ‘smart casual’ really comes across.

Todays top 5.

Today’s top 5 centres on the ‘pink blazer’ i think i is a cute addition to the wardrobe. If you don’t already have one, then check these out. They add a subtle femininity to an outfit without looking to superficial or girlie.

Alexis Barrell

Alexis Barrell is a new London based designer, pushing her own interpretation of womenswear forward. She was born in South Africa and Grew up studying in Cape Town, surrounded by nature, birds, plants and the open plains of Africa. This created a basis of inspiration which can be seen within the prints of her collection. The colours are rich and vibrant and the patterns are very floral, yet simple.

Originally an Architecture Student, she switched to fashion after a Trip to Paris, and she began studying at the Instituto Marangoni. She Boldly started her own line in 2010 after she decided that she didn’t want to work for anyone else. A brave move, which ended up a triumph.

Over the Last ten years she has lived in over 6 different cities throughout the world, this idea of freedom and travel is important to her and she wanted to push this forward in her designs. She uses lose silhouettes and feminine shapes to add a sense of liberation within her garments.

Cannes Film Festival,

 This year’s film festival kicked off with some beautiful gowns from the ladies, It really pushed forward the idea of real Hollywood Glamour which we saw so many decades ago. Here are some of my favourites…
